Sailing in heavy weather is every sailor's fear and fantasy. Feeling comfortable sailing in winds of 15-25 kts. on Lake Superior opens up a whole new world of sailing possibilities and adventures. This course is designed to give participants the opportunity to practice techniques critical to heavy weather sailing. The course will cover reefing sails, heaving to, navigational considerations, steering in big seas, boat preparation, and other storm tactics such as the use of parachute anchors and drogues. This is an 7.5 hour, on the water course and is a great opportunity to expand your sailing horizons in a safe, well-found boat with an experienced captain.
Cost: $175 per person, max group size is 4.
You can also set up your own class for $100/hr. , 3 hour minimum for up to 4 people or $575 for the day - 9:00 - 4:30.
Dates: 20234 to be announced. We also do impromptu classes when the conditions present themselves. Contact us to put yourself on our email list to be notified when we set up an impromptu course (often the best way to insure "brisk" conditions for your course).
